Twelve Concrete Floors Poured

Trip Update

On our January 2012 HOPE Coffee trip, our participants were able to help one of our growers, Juan Aguliar (above), by harvesting coffee at his farm. Juan’s home now has a new concrete floor, as well. Read a report from one of the trip’s participants on his blog: Coffee: From the Tree to the Scale.

New Pricing

Noticed coffee prices at the grocery store inching up this past year? The commodity price of coffee has been on the rise. At HOPE Coffee, we’ve held the price down for a while, but the increase has affected us, too. On March 5, we will adjust our pricing structure, introducing a new, fixed price for each bag size:

All 12oz bags = $10.50
All 2lb bags = $24.50
All 5lb bags = $54.50

Giving Moncho Hope

Like many of the poor in Honduras, Moncho relied on drugs and alcohol to numb the pain of poverty. Moncho’s house was falling apart. He tried to fix it by collecting mud, sticks, and rocks, but storms would tear it apart. His wife eventually left with his sons, concerned for their safety. Finally, a local pastor discovered Moncho and contacted the HOPE Coffee team. We found a nearby church to work on Moncho’s house, and in the process he accepted Christ as his Savior. Nonetheless, things got worse with his wife. But in Moncho’s eyes there is a glimmer of hope—he’s beginning to know the promises of Christ. A church plant is already growing in his community, supporting Moncho and reaching out to many others like him.

HOPE Coffee Partners with Growers First

HOPE Coffee uses 100% Arabica coffee beans from Honduras through our partnership with Growers First. Growers First helps to transform and sustain the lives of poverty stricken farmers who are involved in or ministered to by the CAM-related churches (HOPE Coffee’s parent non-profit) in Honduras. These coffee beans are traceable to a specific coop of coffee farmers from the Siguatepeque region of Honduras.
